Virtual Classroom Staff I
The Virtual Classroom Staff I is an entry level position for staff in the Virtual School. VCS must be able to follow all procedures and instructions in the handbook to provide base level monitoring for virtual classes. Since the classes are live but take place over the Internet, monitors must be present whenever a class is in session. The VCS is primarily responsible for logging incidents that occur during class, providing a basic level of support (both technical and non-technical) and escalating issues as necessary. Communication skills are a plus and VCS must be able to follow instructions well. VCS 1 must also be able to pay attention to details and juggle multiple inputs simultaneously, i.e. email, instant message, students requesting assistance, etc. Computer skills and familiarity with the Windows and Microsoft Office environment is a requirement. Must be able to work as part of a team and be ready to assist when needed.
Virtual Classroom Analyst
The Virtual Classroom Analyst position is responsible for the smooth execution of assigned virtual classes. A Virtual Classroom Analyst should have experience as a Virtual Classroom Staff member, preferably a senior Virtual Classroom Staff, with documented good performance. A Virtual Classroom Analyst will assist Virtual Classroom Staff on their classes to improve observations and other duties. A Virtual Classroom Analyst will be assigned a number of classes for which they will have responsibility and oversight with regard to the general operation of those classes. Communication skills are a must in order to work with other Virtual Classroom Analysts, Virtual Classroom Staff, and Virtual School Support personnel as well as interacting with students and instructors. Organizational skills, ability to multitask and ability to track details are a must.
Programming Internship
This is a position for a web programmer in the ASP.NET environment. There will be a concentration on writing modules to support an existing web-based environment in an open portal environment. The web applications developed will be used in our live production environment. As such, efficient coding as well as ease-of-use for the user are paramount. Opportunities also exist to experience different aspects of a small, but growing technology company. Applicant must be self motivated and be able to work hard with minimal supervision while being willing to work as a productive team member. An entrepreneurial mindset and a willingness to step beyond a typical programming position would be highly regarded.
Network Engineering Internship
This position will give you hands-on experience in designing, configuring and implementing networks of many different scales. The applicant will have the opportunity to see all aspects of networking from pulling wire, to configuring switches, to connecting desktops and will have exposure to 10/100/1000 Ethernet and ATM networks. These networks may include various technologies including copper, fiber, wireless, or free-space optics. Applicant must be self motivated and be able to work hard with minimal supervision while being willing to work as a productive team member. An entrepreneurial mindset and a willingness to step beyond a typical position would be highly regarded.
Production Internship
This position is for qualified interns in visual media. The applicant will have hands on experience in our state-of-the-art High Definition production / post production facility which has recently been overhauled to utilize FULL HD. Our equipment includes P2 HD Cameras and a Sony HD production mixer capable of producing live, High Definition multi-camera shoots. Experience in visual media, video production or post-production is a plus. The applicant will participate in a wide range of activities ranging from basic office work and file management, to assisting on- and off-set production, to post-production work such as assistant editing or graphics. Experience in Avid and Final Cut Studio are a plus. Computer software skills as well as good storytelling abilities are a must. Students working toward a degree from any college must be doing so with university approval. We are flexible in scheduling and are looking for a commitment of at least 2 days per week. Video samples of previous work are welcome to accompany resumes and cover letters.
Applied Economist
This position is for a qualified Applied Economist. The applicant must be able to relate our current project and job focus to the current global economic turmoil and its widespread effects on the financial industry. The applicant must be bi-lingual. A graduate degree from the Maxwell School is a plus. We are looking to have an in-house expert on this subject as we expand our operation. The applicant should be well versed to be able to perform economic and policy analyses with respect to the current sub-prime mortgage issues and induced global economic reactions specifically related to the impact toward economic consequences worldwide. The applicant should also be technically proficient and will be expected to create and maintain a bi-lingual web site with associated blogs, forums, and other Web 2.0 technologies to highlight and manage initiatives and index resources assembled from focus group discussions. In addition, the applicant should create and maintain a newsletter of the subject matter to promote the focus group activities.
